Toya Delazy Returns To Voice Bliss In The Powerpuff Girls Special Never Been Blissed For Cartoon Network Africa

South African music artist – Toya Delazy has returned to the recording studio to voice Bliss in the African English version of The Powerpuff Girls special – Never Been Blissed. Once again, Toya has voiced the fourth Powerpuff Girl (technically the first, as Bliss was created before the main Powerpuff Girls trio was created) and the long-lost older sister of Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup.

In the special – Never Been Blissed, Bliss is back from outer space to protect the girls’ school from the Sporde, a space alien who can shapeshift. Bliss also falls in love and gets asked to the school dance by Logan. With a parasitic alien on the loose, the Powerpuff Girls have to find a way to stop it before the big dance. The special episode will air on Cartoon Network Africa on Saturday 16th June at 1.30pm CAT.

In the United States, Olivia Olsen (voice of Marceline in Adventure Time) returned to voice Bliss for the Never Been Blissed special, in Australia and New Zealand – YouTuber Wengie (Wendy Ayche) also returned to voice Bliss.

In South Africa, The Power of Four special, the four-part special that introduced Bliss to viewers for the first time, reached 210,000 viewers between the ages of four and 14-years-old.

According to Toya, there will be some more future projects in the pipeline which she can’t announce yet, the only piece of information that she has disclosed is that it focuses on young girls living in Africa, she said:

“I am so happy to be trusted with this awesome mission yet again and build on the relationship I have with Cartoon Network, the leading kids’ channel in South Africa. We have some super cool projects in the pipeline, which I can’t talk about yet, aimed at shining the spotlight on young girls across the African continent. It is going to be very impactful and game-changing – watch this space!”

After the Never Been Blissed special, Cartoon Network Africa will air new episodes of The Powerpuff Girls from Saturday 30th June, airing Saturdays at 3.40pm. There will also be a Father’s Day Powerpuff Girls programming stunt on Sunday 17th June from 7.05am.
