Toontorial Premieres On Cartoon Network Latin America’s YouTube Channel On 20th October

This Saturday (20th October) at 10am, Cartoon Network Latin America’s YouTube channel will premiere their newest animated short series – Toontorial. Toontorial features humorous animated tutorials for simple everyday tasks but with ridiculously nonsensical and unnecessary instructions, an given example is finding a cyclops to open a can of beans or how to take care of a pet if it’s a dinosaur, or even how to pack battle-axe in a bag. The brand new animated shorts series is created by Axur Eneas made by Mexico City-based stop-motion animation studio – Cinema Fantasma. Toontorial was originally going to premiere on Cartoon Network Latin America’s YouTube channel on 6th October.

Toontorial was the winning project from Cartoon Network’s pitching competition at Pixelatl 2017 – Pitch Me Evolution. Axur Eneas was inspired by how-to tutorial videos on YouTube and guides on Wikihow and is a parody based on his own experiences of when learning basic tasks. Axur is inspired by animated shows featuring mixed-media for example – Cartoon Network’s The Amazing World of Gumball or Nickelodeon’s Kablam!, he approached Roy and Arturo Ambriz at Cinema Fantasma to help produce the stop-motion element of his new series. Cinema Fantasma previously produced six stop-motion short films for Cartoon Network Latin America featuring characters from Adventure Time, Regular Show, Steven Universe, The Amazing World of Gumball, Uncle Grandpa and Clarence, the short films have been used as fillers between shows on the Cartoon Network Latin America television channel.

For the short-form animated series, Axur does script-writing, character design, storyboard, animatics, all the 2d animation, puppet designs and editing on his own, but he made sure that the main character of Toontorial has a simplistic design so he can focus more on the other aspects of production. In addition to the shorts, Cartoon Network Latin America has been uploading Toontorial comic strips on social media.

Earlier this year, Axur and Studio Fantasma finished production on the pilot, which was funded by the $7,500 USD cash prize from the Pitch Me Evolution pitching competition, earlier this year, both signed a contract with Cartoon Network for a 16-episode first season, with new episodes premiering every two weeks, Auxr was surprised by this, as he was only expected to make ten episodes.

Yesterday (8th September) was the final day of the Pixelatl 2018 animation, video games and comics festival in Cuernavaca, Mexico, so here’s an overview of the Cartoon Network Latin America related events that happened this week at the festival.

Villainous Panel: Villainous Without Limits: Something Villainous This Way Comes!

Yesterday (8th September), was the panel for Cartoon Network Latin America’s animated shorts series – Villainous, featured in this year’s panel was a teaser trailer for the much-anticipated teaser trailer. Despite only being targeted for Latin American audiences for the time being, popularity of the series has spread worldwide, including the United States and as far as South Korea and Japan. Attending the panel was the show’s creator – Alan Ituriel, the show’s production crew from A.I. Animation Studios and also Cartoon Network Mexico producer – Humberto Cervera. The panel was an opportunity for fans to ask questions about the show, fans were also given paper cut-out masks featuring Black Hat, Demencia and 5.0.5. character designs.

Toontorial Panel

Afterwards on Saturday was the Toontorial panel with show creator – Axur Eneas. The show was the winning pitch at last year’s Cartoon Network pitching competition at Pixelatl – Pitch Me Evolution. Toontorial features humorous animated tutorials for simple everyday tasks but made ridiculously over-complicated and unnecessary, an given example is finding a cyclops to open a can of beans. The brand new animated shorts series is made by animation studio – Cinema Fantasma. At the panel, it was announced that Toontorial will premiere on Cartoon Network Latin America on Saturday 6th October and a new episode will air every two weeks.

El Bosque Olvidado (The Forgotten Forest) wins Cartoon Network’s Girl Power: Pitch Me The Future Show Pitch Competition

Madelein Treviño’s El Bosque Olvidado (English: The Forgotten Forest) has won this year’s Cartoon Network pitching competition at Pixelatl – Girl Power: Pitch Me The Future. The pitching competition was an opportunity for female animators and creators living in Latin America to pitch their original show ideas to Cartoon Network. The competition’s finalists had the chance to pitch their ideas in-front of Cartoon Network executives at the festival.

Cartoon Network Latin America And Pixelatl Announces Girl Power: Pitch Me The Future Finalists

On Tuesday this week (14th August), Cartoon Network Latin America and Pixelatl has announced the finalists for the Girl Power: Pitch Me The Future show pitching competition, a total of ten finalists were chosen. The winners were announced on social media.

The pitching competition is an opportunity for female animators and creators living in Latin America to pitch their original show ideas to Cartoon Network. The competition’s finalists will have the chance to pitch their ideas in-front of Cartoon Network executives at the festival. This year’s Pixelatl festival will take place in Cuernavaca, Mexico between Tuesday 4th and Saturday 8th September.
