Cartoon Network UK’s animated short for the Hope Works Project – “A Whale’s Tale” was released online today (20th November) and can now be viewed on Cartoon Network UK’s YouTube channel or on Hope Works’ YouTube channel. The purpose of the animated short is to educate children about the effects of marine pollution. The Hope Works Project works with the biggest broadcasters around the world and Unicef (the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund). The Hope Works project aims to reawaken a generation’s hope through 12 films and resources. The films, each with a different theme, were created to inspire the values of kindness, tolerance and understanding in children around the world. All twelve films were released today, which is known as World Children’s Day. Hope Works is the creation of Lucy Murphy, head of kids’ content at Sky, and Alison Stewart, former head of production at BBC’s preschool channel – CBeebies.

In “A Whale’s Tale”, a whale under the sea tries to help smaller creatures who are struggling with plastic waste. On land, a young boy seeks help to clear the sea in his area, but neither the boy or the whale can succeed on their own. Boats and fishermen come to the boy’s aid to help clean the sea. The animated short was animated by Blue-Zoo Productions in London for Cartoon Network UK. Blue-Zoo has previously worked with Cartoon Network EMEA on various television presentation projects, including the The Amazing World of Gumball Song “clockwork machine” promo.

Come and battle alongside Finn, Jake, Princess Bubblegum and Marceline to save the Candy Kingdom. Become the righteous hero and play the Ooo Experience interactive game on a giant screen in a shopping centre near you.

From The Turner UK Press Release:

Cartoon Network UK announced today it has commissioned an exclusive interactive gaming experience; “An Ooo Experience”, to celebrate the animated cult series, Adventure Time. From 11th June – 10th July, Adventure Time’s “An Ooo Experience”, will travel across UK shopping centers, offering fans a chance to jump into the Land of Ooo and play alongside their favourite characters as they battle to save Candy Kingdom from the Nightosphere.

Developed by technological wizards Hellicar&Lewis, “An Ooo Experience” places players in front of a giant LED Screen. Motion sensors allow them to then interact and play with all manner of amazing characters and landscapes from Adventure Time. Guided by a real life Wizard of Ooo, they will be taken on a journey through The Candy Kingdom. Along the way they will transform into life-size versions of their favourite Adventure Time characters – Finn, Jake, Marceline or Princess Bubblegum. They will have the power to shoot magic from their fingertips, move mountains, grow candy floss trees, breathe life into rainbows and even take part in a massive dance party.

Richard Kinning, UK Creative Director at Turner, says:

“We’re thrilled to be collaborating with Hellicar&Lewis to launch Adventure Time’s first-ever live interactive experience. This game was inspired by our massive fan-base for the show; we wanted to offer them a unique Adventure Time experience like never before. “An Ooo Experience” offers players a mix of theatre, character interaction and the opportunity to explore and immerse themselves in the Land of Ooo. We hope it attracts both existing fans and also new ones who just fall in love with the characters like we have.”
