Cartoon Network South Korea Partners With Qualson For English Language Learning App

Turner Broadcasting System Asia-Pacific is teaming up with Qualson, the leading mobile language learning service in South Korea, to launch a fun new app that helps Korean speakers to learn the English language through the use of Cartoon Network’s shows and characters. The app will feature cartoon characters from We Bare Bears (a highly popular show in South Korea and the rest of Asia), The Powerpuff Girls, Adventure Time, The Amazing World of Gumball, Uncle Grandpa and Regular Show.

The app is planned to launch in South Korea in October, the app will eventually rollout to other markets, including Japan, Taiwan and Southeast Asia. The new app will be subscription based and will target both kids and adults who want to improve their English listening and speaking skills.

Turner Asia Pacific is partnering with Qualson, the leading Korean mobile product developer, to launch a new app that enables users of different ages to make learning English fun through Cartoon Network’s shows and characters.

Targeted for launch in October in South Korea with subsequent rollout plans for other Asian markets including Japan, Taiwan and Southeast Asia, the subscription model app will target both kids and adults who want to improve their fluency in both listening and speaking English.

Popular original shows from Turner’s Cartoon Network featured in the app include We Bare Bears, The Powerpuff Girls, Adventure Time, The Amazing World of Gumball, Uncle Grandpa and Regular Show.

Cartoon Network Asia Pacific Teams Up With Tangent For Adventure Time Game

Cartoon Network Asia-Pacific has teamed up with South Korean game developer Tangent to develop a new Adventure Time mobile game called “Adventure Time Run: The Ooo Expedition”. The game was released in South Korea today (21/09/2016), and will be rolled out throughout Asia later this year and in some selected international markets in 2017. This is also the first time a Cartoon Network property has been used in a South Korean game and there’s a future possibility for a Powerpuff Girls, Ben 10 or We Bare Bears game to be made too.

The “run-style” game includes an innovative character nurturing system and social media integration. The game mostly focuses on Finn and Jake, but the game will also feature/reference Princess Bubblegum, Marceline the Vampire Queen and BMO.

Turner Asia Pacific will launch a new app called ‘Adventure Time Run: The Ooo Expedition’, created by game developer Tangent. It is the first time a Cartoon Network IP has been used as the complete landscape for a Korean-produced game. The release will first take place in Korea on September 21, with a regional rollout across Asia later in 2016, and finally in selected international markets in 2017.

The game focuses on the main characters Finn and Jake from Cartoon Network’s global hit animated series Adventure Time, but also references the show’s Princess Bubblegum, Marceline the Vampire Queen and BMO, who all reside in the dreamlike Land of Ooo and have a huge fanbase. The “run-style” gameplay adopts an innovative a character nurturing system and has social media integration with linked ranking ability.

Ron Lee, General Manager of Turner Korea, said: “This game is the first of a kind. Korea’s gaming industry is hungry for new IP that can provide a global competitive edge, and Turner and Cartoon Network IPs already have a track record of popularity internationally.”

He added: “Turner will be looking to secure further business with Korea’s talented pool of game developers and partners. ‘Adventure Time Run: The Ooo Expedition’ can be downloaded on mobile devices from the Google Play Store and the Apple iTunes App Store from today in South Korea (21/09/2016). A number of events to mark the game’s release are scheduled.
