Cartoon Network Screening At SXSW 2017

Cartoon Network USA will be hosting a special screening during the SXSW 2017 (South by Southwest) media event in Austin, Texas on Monday 13th March at 8pm at the Long Center for Performing Arts. The screening will feature never before seen episodes of The Amazing World of Gumball, We Bare Bears, Ben 10 and Teen Titans Go! and apparently there’s a big surprise too. A SXSW badge will be required for access to the screening.

SXSW is a major annual media event and is an amalgamation of film, interactive media and music festivals. At last year’s SXSW event, Cartoon Network USA hosted the world premiere of The Powerpuff Girls 2016 reboot as well as a pre-premiere party. Last year, Cartoon Network also hosted a creativity panel with Ian Jones-Quartey (creator of OK K.O.!: Let’s Be Heroes and former supervising director for Steven Universe), Julia Pott (Creator of Summer Camp Island), Kyle Carrozza (Creator of Mighty Magiswords), Pete Browngardt (Creator of Uncle Grandpa and Secret Mountain Fort Awesome) and Rob Sorcher (Chief Content Officer at Cartoon Network). Cartoon Network also hosted a joint panel with Lego about their on-going content collaboration with shows such as Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu and Nexo Knights.

The Powerpuff Girls reboot pre-premiere party and screening weren’t the only events Cartoon Network arranged at SXSW (South By Southwest Festival) this week, on Thursday 17th March, Cartoon Network hosted a panel at the Austin Convention Center called “Cartoon Network: Disrupting with Post-Its and Pencils”, featuring Ian Jones-Quartey (Animator/Supervising Director for Steven Universe, creator of the Lakewood Plaza Turbo animated short), Julia Pott (Creator of Summer Camp), Kyle Carrozza (Creator of Mighty Magiswords), Pete Browngardt (Creator of Uncle Grandpa) and Rob Sorcher (Global Content Officer for Cartoon Network). The panel humorously explained that the use of pencils and Post-it notes to draw ideas helps with creativity and is influencing the future of storytelling. Cartoon Network is known for its Emmy and Peabody Award-winning formula by putting creators first, encouraging digital collaborations, and having a high level of flexibility in creativity.

SXSW Powerpuff Girls Reboot Party

Last night (14/03/2016) was the pre-premiere party for the Powerpuff Girls reboot at the SXSW (South By Southwest) Music, Film and Interactive festival in Austin, Texas. Needless to say, Cartoon Network made sure that the event didn’t go unnoticed. The event consisted of a parade and giant Powerpuff Girls shaped balloons, as well as three different tents, Blossom’s Supersnacks (served sweet treats for guests), Buttercup’s Powerdome (features interactive games) as well as Bubbles’ Boutique stall, and of course The Powerpuff Girls themselves. This all happened before the main event, the world premiere screening of the new series of The Powerpuff Girls on an outdoor cinema screen.

It's the final countdown! #PPG
