Cartoon Network And Dark Horse Books Announces The Art Of Steven Universe: The Movie Art Book Coming This Autumn

Today (12th April), Dark Horse Books and Cartoon Network has announced that they will be releasing a new Steven Universe art book, but this time it’s for the upcoming movie. Steven Universe is Cartoon Network’s GLAAD Media Award-winning and Emmy-nominated animated series, the series focuses on the adventures of a young boy named Steven and his team of magical aliens – The Crystal Gems who defend Earth from the destructive force of their homeworld. The first art book – Steven Universe: Art & Origins was released in July 2017.

The Art of Steven Universe: The Movie art book is designed by Ryan Sands (Youth in Decline’s Frontier quarterly art and comics magazine) and is produced in conjunction with Steven Universe creator Rebecca Sugar. The art book will feature preliminary character designs, storyboard development and various artwork from the anticipated movie.

The Art of Steven Universe: The Movie art book will be released around the same time when the movie premieres on Cartoon Network USA this autumn. Fans can now pre-order a copy through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and at local comic shops. The book will consist of 96-pages of artwork and will have a recommended retail price of $19.99 USD.

The Tale Of Steven A Picture Book Based On Steven Universe’s Change Your Mind Episode To Be Released 29th October 2019

Cartoon Network and Abrams Books have partnered to release a brand new picture book based on the pivotal four-part Steven Universe episode – “Change Your Mind”, which premiered on 21st January in the United States, the episode revealed the highly anticipated culmination of Pink Diamond’s storyline. In September 2016, Cartoon Network released a similar book based on another Steven Universe episode – “The Answer”.

The new picture book is written by Steven Universe show creator – Rebecca Sugar, and is illustrated by Annie Award nominated art director and New York Times bestselling illustrator – Elle Michalka. The book is also illustrated by Steven Universe prop/FX designer – Angie Wang.

In “The Tale of Steven”, readers will relive the episode and follow the story of Pink Diamond’s escape from Homeworld, Rose Quartz’s life on Earth and the creation of Steven Universe, from multiple conflicting perspectives. The Tale of Steven will be released in book stores across the United States on 29th October 2019 and will cost $14.99 RRP, an e-book version will also be available.

Today (3rd August) Cartoon Network Games and Outright Games have announced that two of Cartoon Network’s latest console games – Steven Universe: Save the Light and OK K.O.! Let’s Play Heroes will be released in a physical 2-in-1 bundle for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and for Nintendo Switch. The bundle will be released in North America on 30th October and will be released in Europe on 2nd November for $39.99 (USD)/£34.99 (GBP)/€39.99 (EUR). All three console double pack bundles are now available to pre-order from Amazon.com.

Also, this will be the first time these games will be released for Nintendo Switch, both in digital and physical form, Steven Universe: Save the Light and OK K.O.! Let’s Play Heroes will also be available to purchase individually in the Nintendo eShop on 30th October for $24.99 (USD)/£19.99 (GBP)/€24.99 (EUR) and $19.99 (USD)/£17.99 (GBP)/€19.99 (EUR) respectively.

Produced by Grumpyface Studios, Steven Universe: Save the Light is the sequel to the hit mobile RPG game – Attack the Light. The video game features an original story written by the show’s creator – Rebecca Sugar and features many of the characters and environments as featured in the show. In the game, Steven and the Crystal Gems team up to stop a mysterious gem from stealing a powerful weapon – the Light Prism. The game features real-time and turn-based gameplay battling mechanics.

OK K.O.! Let’s Play Heroes is an action RPG developed by Capybara Games produced in collaboration with OK K.O.! Let’s Be Heroes series creator – Ian Jones-Quartey. In the game, Lord Boxman resets the POW card levels of every hero in Lakewood Plaza Turbo, a strip mall for heroes, it’s up to K.O. and his Lakewood Plaza friends to defeat Lord Boxman’s robot army and save the plaza. The game features quests, battles, levelling-up game mechanics and brawler-style combat.

Steven Universe: Save the Light is currently available in digital format on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, the game will be released for Steam for Microsoft Windows and Mac OSX later this month. OK K.O.! Let’s Play Heroes is currently available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows.
