Animated Music Video Mankind By Methods Animated By Daniel Crew

The following post has little to do with Cartoon Network, but I’m doing this for a friend, and I’m supportive of the animation industry as a whole. My friend and work colleague – Daniel Crew has animated a music video all on his own for a local indie band called “Methods”, he’s a big fan of Steven Universe which is reflective in his artwork, he owns a copy of the Steven Universe art book and even met Zach Callison (voice of Steven) and Grace Rolek (voice of Connie) at MCM Comic Con in London and MCM Comic Con Birmingham respectively.

I’ve invited Dan to Cartoon Network UK’s 25th Anniversary screening back in September, he really wanted to go, but unfortunately he couldn’t make it as he was busy making this music video, which is why he deserves this blog post. We often talk about animated shows now and again and he has been working on this music video during his free time, even during lunch breaks at work. He encouraged me to carry on with the CN news blog, while I was suffering through bouts of depression, I felt I couldn’t do it anymore and sidelined everything I enjoyed, thankfully those days are over and I hope it will never come back.

The music video takes place during the Cold War era, where nuclear proliferation was an ongoing fear and because of the fear, it was rather psychological, and someone needed the courage to “press the button” which would lead to the complete annihilation of Earth. Which is why there was a lot of experimentation on people in the military on whether they could make such a ridiculously tough decision that no-one ever hopes to do. The music video has a lot of visual effects and looks amazing considering that only one person worked on it. The music video was screened at the Lighthouse Cinema in Wolverhampton on Saturday 24th November, followed by a live performance by the band.
