Welcome To My Life Animated Short Now On YouTube

Yesterday (07/04/2017), Elizabeth Ito’s animated short – Welcome To My Life has been uploaded onto Cartoon Network USA’s YouTube channel. The short has been shown at various film festivals including NYICFF 2017 (New York International Children’s Film Festival) where it won an audience award in the ages 12 to 17 category.

Welcome to My Life follows the life of a young American monster named Douglas (nicknamed T-Kesh). However, it’s not easy for a monster to live alongside humans; even though to his classmates he appears to be a monster but really he’s a human in the inside. The short is formatted as a “mockumentary” and is an insight of someone’s life who struggles with their differences. The short features lineless 3D CGI characters with a slightly blotchy shaded texture, also similar to The Amazing World of Gumball, the short uses photographs for backgrounds. Compared to the usual output from Cartoon Network Studios, Welcome To My Life has a more mature, quiet and relaxed tone.

As with all animated shorts from Cartoon Network Studios in recent years, the Emmy-award winning art director Nick Cross has also worked on Welcome To My Life. External animation work on the short was completed by French animation studio TeamTo, known for their animation work on Angelo Rules and My Knight and Me.
