Turner Renews Distribution Deal With Sky Deutschland

Today (4th September), Turner EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) and the German division of British direct-to-home satellite pay-tv provider – Sky Deutschland have renewed their distribution deal. The carriage deal includes continued distribution of Cartoon Network and Boomerang in Germany and Austria on Sky’s TV platform, as well as TNT Film, TNT Series and TNT Comedy. The deal also includes VOD (Video-On-Demand) rights for Cartoon Network’s and Boomerang’s shows which are also accessible on Sky Deutschland’s child friendly streaming service app – Sky Kids. The deal also includes carriage of a HD version of TNT Film – TNT Film HD.

Manuel Kindervater, Vice President of Partner Channels at Sky Deutschland made this statement in regards with the new deal with Turner:

“Our focus is on presenting our customers with the highest quality content, The self-produced series, the films and the high-quality children’s programs of Turner stations are clearly one of them.”

Matthias Heinze, general manager of Turner Eastern Europe and Benelux also added:

“The new contract with our longtime partner Sky is an important step. We were not only able to jointly increase the distribution of some of our channels, but have long-term security.”

TBS’s And Adult Swim’s Final Space Renewed For A Second Season

TBS’s latest animated hit – Final Space has been renewed for a second season, the serialised intergalactic space adventure-comedy series has reached more than twenty million viewers on TBS’s linear and digital platforms as well as video-on-demand services in the United States. The animated series follows an astronaut named Gary and his friend – Mooncake, an adorable alien with the powerful ability to destroy planets. On their journey, they make new friends and expand their team, together they embark on a quest to unlock the mystery of “Final Space”, the place where the universe ends.

Final Space is created by filmmaker/actor/comedian Olan Rogers and is co-written and executive produced by David Sacks, who previously served as an executive producer on Nickelodeon’s Pig Goat Banana Cricket. The show is now getting international distribution as it will premiere on Turner’s TNT Comedy channel in Germany on 15th May.


The show is produced by Conan O’Brien’s Conaco and New Form in association with Turner’s in-house studio – Studio T, the show also airs on Cartoon Network USA’s adult-focused nighttime block – Adult Swim. An AR (augmented reality) app has been released based on the series and a VR (Virtual Reality) pilot episode is currently in development. Final Space merchandise are now available to buy on TBS’s website (http://shop.tbs.com) and the Facebook Live game – “Cards with Gary” offered an additional interactive experience for fans.

Cartoon Network And Adult Swim At Stuttgart International Trickfilm Festival 2018

Beginning next Tuesday (24th April) until Sunday 29th April, will be the 2018 Stuttgart International Trickfilm Festival (also known as the Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film) in Stuttgart, Germany. The festival is one of the biggest animation festivals in Europe and is a major event in the animation calendar. The festival will celebrate its 25th anniversary this year, and there’s a couple Cartoon Network/Adult Swim related events too.

Friday 27th April: TNT Comedy presents the Final Space and Adult Swim Cult Night

TNT Comedy’s Adult Swim block will be at the festival with a couple of its strangest, random and funniest shows, including Rick and Morty and Robot Chicken. The first two episodes of Final Space will be shown in a special screening, followed by a talk session with the creator of Final Space – Olan Rogers (also the voice of Gary and Mooncake) and Coty Galloway (voice of Avocato), visitors will have the exclusive opportunity to talk to Olan and Coty personally. The talk session will be followed by one more Final Space episode.


Saturday 28th April: Cartoon Network meets Hochschule Luzern (Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts)

Animation students from the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences – Art and Design in Switzerland showcase some idents produced for Cartoon Network. The partnership between Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Cartoon Network is now in its eighth year and it has been an opportunity for students to gain some industry experience and to demonstrate their work.
