This Sunday (1st October), Cartoon Network will celebrate its 25th anniversary. The channel first launched in the United States on 1st October 1992 and it was the first 24-hour network that’s purely dedicated to animation. At first, it was just an animation archive channel (but with the largest cartoon library in the world), but by the end of the 1990’s it grew into the animation powerhouse we know to day. Even to this day it’s still expanding worldwide, with new animated (and animation related live action) programming recently made in several countries including the United Kingdom, France, Brazil, Germany, Spain, Denmark, India, South Korea, Australia, Philippines and Mexico, channel launches in several countries and new languages and the further expansion of digital services including live streaming and video on-demand.

Yesterday (28/09/2017), Cartoon Network’s owners – Turner uploaded an amazing animated short video onto YouTube featuring a plethora of the channel’s most recognisable characters over the past 25 years all tightly squeezed into a small box, then they all break free to form Cartoon Network’s 25th anniversary logo. The characters in the special short video include: Buttercup from The Powerpuff Girls, Dexter from Dexter’s Laboratory, Courage The Cowardly Dog, Amethyst from Steven Universe, Mordecai, Rigby and Pops from Regular Show, Pizza Steve from Uncle Grandpa, Gumball and Darwin from The Amazing World of Gumball, Jake from Adventure Time, K.O. from OK K.O.! Let’s Be Heroes, Starfire from Teen Titans/Teen Titans Go!, Bubbie from The Marvellous Misadventures of Flapjack, Johnny Bravo, Grey Matter from Ben 10 also the Omnitrix, Lazlo from Camp Lazlo, Plank from Ed, Edd n Eddy, a Zombie Pumpkin Magisword from Mighty Magiswords, Chowder and Shnitzel from Chowder, Grizz, Panda and Ice Bear from We Bare Bears, Clarence and finally, Bloo from Foster’s Home For Imaginary Friends.

Cartoon Network Battle Crashers Nintendo Switch Release 14th November

Video game publishers Maximum Games and Cartoon Network Games will be releasing Cartoon Network: Battle Crashers for Nintendo’s newest console – the Nintendo Switch. The game was already released for PlayStation 4, XBOX One and Nintendo 3DS in November last year. The Nintendo Switch version will be released on Tuesday 14th November (UK) and Tuesday 31st October (USA) and is now available to pre-order from Amazon.co.uk (£29.99 GBP) and Amazon.com ($39.99 USD).

Cartoon Network: Battle Crashers is a side-scrolling brawler game with solo and four-player drop-in/drop-out local multiplayer. The game features six different Cartoon Network stars: Finn & Jake (together as one playable character unit), Clarence, Steven, Gumball, Uncle Grandpa, and Rigby & Mordecai (also together as one playable character unit). The game has all the crazy humour you would expect and is full of colourful graphics, the game can be played for short period and with your friends.

Nickelodeon Latin America has announced the final nominations for the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Mexico 2017 Awards and Cartoon Network’s We Bare Bears is a finalist in the “Favourite Cartoon” category, the four remaining animated shows up for the public vote apart from We Bare Bears are: Disney’s Star Vs. The Forces Of Evil and two Nickelodeon shows – SpongeBob SquarePants and The Loud House. The Powerpuff Girls and Uncle Grandpa didn’t gain enough votes compared to the other pre-nominations in the same category, which means they don’t qualify for the final stage.
