Today (18th July), DHX Media, the world’s leading independent children’s programming producer has announced that the brand new animated series based on Capcom’s video game character – Mega Man called – “Mega Man: Fully Charged” will premiere on Cartoon Network USA on Sunday 5th August, with new episodes airing every Sunday, with ten initial episodes available to view from Friday 3rd August on the Cartoon Network app and VOD (video on-demand) services. In Canada, the new animated series will air on DHX’s Family Channel from this Autumn.

The new Mega Man series is co-produced with Dentsu Entertainment’s USA division and is executive produced by Man of Action Entertainment (creators of Cartoon Network’s Ben 10, Generator Rex, and the creators of the characters and team featured in Big Hero 6), Man of Action’s team consists of Joe Casey, Joe Kelly, Duncan Rouleau and Steven T. Seagle. Man of Action will also be story editors on the new series.

Ahead of the show’s premiere in the both the United States and Canada, episode trailers for the new show will be available to view on DHX Media’s YouTube-based kids’ network WildBrain starting from this Saturday (21st July), show clips and trailer previews will be released on a weekly basis on Mega Man: Fully Charged’s very own YouTube channel.

Toys and consumer products based on the new Mega Man series are set to be released from Spring 2019, with the master toy licensee – Jakks Pacific releasing action figures, figurines, playsets and accessories, role-play items, and everyday dress-up and Halloween costumes.

On this Friday (20th July) at San Diego Comic Con (San Diego Convention Centre – ​Room 25ABC) between 6 and 7pm, there will be a panel for the new Mega Man: Fully Charged animated series, the panel will include Capcom’s Kazuhiro Tsuchiya (video game producer: ​Mega Man® 11, ​Asura’s Wrath™), Logan McPherson (DHX Studios, VP, creative & animated production: Slugterra, The Deep, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, the series) and Man of Action Entertainment’s Joe Casey and Steven T. Seagle (executive producers and story editors: Mega Man: Fully Charged). At the panel, there will be a behind-the-scenes look at the new series.

Before the panel and between 12.30pm and 1pm, there will be an exclusive Mega Man: Fully Charged artwork signing also with Joe Casey, Steven T. Seagle and Kazuhiro Tsuchiya at Capcom’s booth (#215), fans will also have the opportunity to play the brand new Mega Man video game – Mega Man 11, which will be released for XBOX One, PlayStation 4, PC, and Switch on 2nd October. Turner Broadcasting System Europe has appointed an influential award winning television producer and digital executive to head its Digital Content Strategy for its children’s and general entertainment channels, including Cartoon Network, Boomerang, Cartoonito, Toonami and Boing. Mr Goodchild will lead the local digital teams in Turner’s regional offices across EMEA and will work with the central research, commercial, advertising sales, marketing, PR and franchise management teams in London.

Digital content is an increasingly growing part of Turner’s business, in recent years in the media industry there has been a lot of focus on live-streaming and on-demand TV Anywhere services, micro-formatted content for digital apps such as Cartoon Network Anything and mobile games from Cartoon Network Games. In the digital era, it’s becoming more important to distribute content on multiple devices, such as mobile phones, tablets and PC’s, as consumers want to watch content when and where it’s convenient to them.

In Europe, Middle East and Africa, Turner has launched ten new YouTube channels, 16 new apps and introduced the micro-content app Cartoon Network Anything in seven new markets. Turner Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) today named Marc Goodchild as its Head of Digital Content Strategy & Product for EMEA.

Goodchild, an award winning television producer and digital executive with a 20-year track record in broadcast, production and the start-up community, will be responsible for the overall content strategy and digital content vision for EMEA, working in close collaboration with all regional content and digital teams. He will also lead the EMEA Central Digital Team and any third party digital vendors, provide support and editorial guidance to the local heads of digital and work in close collaboration with the central research, commercial, advertising sales, marketing, PR and franchise management teams.

Most recently co-founder and CEO at creative app studio and technology house Gingersnap Studios, he was previously co-founder and CCO at SyncScreen providing second screen authoring and synchronisation tools for non-live and VOD productions. His career includes a mix of senior director, producer and executive roles at Disney and the BBC, and on commissions for Discovery and Channel 4. He has also worked as a digital consultant for independent production companies including Jamie Oliver, Zodiak Kids, Lion TV etc. He has a BA Hons in Politics from the University of Nottingham and a post-grad in Broadcast Journalism from City University.

Turner Broadcasting System Europe and Turner Broadcasting System Latin America has signed a deal with London based WildBrain to help manage their children’s television show’s YouTube channels. WildBrain will be responsible for specific YouTube accounts for Cartoon Network’s animated shows including The Amazing World of Gumball and Adventure Time which are in the process of being localised, new channels have already rolled out for The Powerpuff Girls and Adventure Time in the UK, Russia, Poland and Latin America.
