Cartoon Network At MCM Comic Con London Autumn 2017
MCM Comic-Con London, the UK’s largest convention dedicated to pop-culture covering every from TV shows, comics and movies will be at the ExCeL convention centre in London from Friday 27th October to Sunday 29th October. The convention is a biannual event, held on the last weekend of May and October. As usual, Cartoon Network will be there with a stand featuring the channel’s most famous characters. The stand will feature a “The Powerpuff Girls Experience”, where convention-goers can “Powerpuff” themselves by creating a super-cute and super fierce version of themselves by using the avatar maker.
Cartoon Network fans at the convention will also be able to create a video with Adventure Time’s Finn and Jake, or Grizz, Panda and Ice Bear from We Bare Bears or even Steven Universe himself. Also, fans will be able to share their videos for a chance to win some amazing and exclusive prizes from Cartoon Network.
In addition, Cartoon Network UK will reveal some news about The Powerpuff Girls during the convention’s opening day on Friday 27th October. We’ll have to wait and see what its all about. 🙂

At the convention, Rick and Morty comics illustrator (and Regular Show and The Amazing World of Gumball comic cover artist) – Marc Ellerby will be in the Comic Village and there will be fan-meetups for Steven Universe, Teen Titans/Young Justice and Rick and Morty fans.
Cartoon Network USA San Diego Comic Con 2017 Thursday 20th July Overview
Yesterday (21/07/2017) was the first official day of San Diego Comic Con 2017, so here’s a little overview on what happened, yesterday was also Warner Bros. Animation’s main day for animation programming for Cartoon Network. The day started off with a Teen Titans Go! panel, at the panel, the co-creator of DC’s Young Justice – Greg Weisman was asked a question whether the cancellation of the show was because of Teen Titans Go!, he revealed that Teen Titans Go! was in development before Young Justice was even cancelled. Also a new season of Young Justice – Young Justice: Outsiders is currently in development.
Teen Titans Go! fans attending panel were giving a Teen Titans Go! goodie bag, featuring art of the Teen Titans from the original animated series beating up the Teen Titans from the Teen Titans Go! universe.
The next panel was for Unikitty, Warner Bros. Animation’s upcoming animated series based on the character of the same name from the 2014 movie – The Lego Movie. People who attended the session got to see the first episode before anyone else.
There was also a panel for the upcoming Lego Ninjago Movie, Lego Senior Creative Director – Simon Lucas was at the panel, later he appeared in the photo shoot with the movie’s cast with some specially created Lego Mini-figures based on all the characters. Convention visitors even took part in a session of Ninjoga (Ninja + Yoga).
TBS also had their animation session at the convention yesterday evening, and J.G. Quintel, the creator of Cartoon Network’s Regular Show revealed a sneak preview of his new show – Close Enough which will premiere in 2018. The show is currently in development at Cartoon Network Studios.
As yesterday was the first official day of San Diego Comic Con 2017, visitors got to see the OK K.O.! Let’s Be Heroes themed Cartoon Network booth for the first time, make sure to visit the booth to get some Cartoon Network freebies.
To end the day, there was a Summertime Go! Screening and Costume Contest, this was an opportunity for convention attendees to dress up as their favourite characters and watch some exclusive sneak peeks. Guest judges include Ian Jones-Quartey (creator and voice of Rad for OK K.O.! Let’s Be Heroes), Greg Cipes (voice of Stinkfly for Ben 10 and voice of Beast Boy for Teen Titans Go!), Zach Callison (voice of Steven for Steven Universe), Deedee Magno-Hall (voice of Pearl for Steven Universe), and Michaela Dietz (voice of Amethyst for Steven Universe) and the voice actor of multiple roles in several shows – Eric Bauza.
Yesterday (08/11/2016), Warner Bros. Animation announced that the action-hero animated show – Young Justice will be getting a third season and the show is officially back in production. Based on the DC Comics comic book series, Young Justice is about a bunch of teenage superhero sidekicks working together in a covert operation group called The Team, which is the youth group of the Justice League. The Justice League is a top-tier group of experienced superhero crime-fighters including Batman and Superman. The Young Justice team includes Nightwing, Robin, Aqualad, Kid Flash, Superboy, Miss Martian and many more.
Sam Register, President of Warner Bros. Animation mentioned that the show was revived from cancellation because of the demands of the show’s loyal fanbase:
“The affection that fans have had for Young Justice, and their rallying cry for more episodes, has always resonated with us. We are excited to bring the show back for this loyal fanbase and to provide an opportunity for new viewers to discover this excellent series.”
Brandon Vietti (Batman: Under the Red Hood, Superman: Doomsday) and Greg Weisman (Star Wars Rebels, Gargoyles, The Spectacular Spider-Man) will be reprising their roles as show producers for the new season, the new season will feature “new twists, turns and dangerous new threats”. No premiere date and broadcaster have been announced yet, but Cartoon Network originally aired the first two seasons. However just because Cartoon Network (through Turner) and Warner Bros are part of the same corporation doesn’t mean Cartoon Network have automatic rights over the show. Cartoon Network currently airs DC Comics’ Teen Titans Go! which has been a ratings hit in the United States, the channel will also premiere DC Comics’ latest animated show – Justice League Action this autumn.

Animation has begun production on a third season of all-new episodes of the acclaimed hit, action-animated series “Young Justice,” based on the characters from DC Entertainment. Season three promises new twists, turns and dangerous new threats for the team, but most importantly, the opportunity for fans to finally continue the adventures of some of their favorite Super Heroes. Further details about the new season — including premiere date and network partner — will be announced at a later time.
Heralded by Entertainment Weekly as one of the “9 Best Animated TV Series Drawn from Comics,” “Young Justice” has been equally praised by critics and viewers for its impressive visuals and rich storytelling. The series reached more than 25 million unique viewers in each of its two seasons on Cartoon Network.

According to Time Warner’s 2nd Quarter Supplemental document which includes an upfront of new and returning shows for the 2016/2017 season, two new Warner Bros. Animation shows are mentioned – Wacky Races and Dorothy Princess of Oz, according to the list, both shows will air on Cartoon Network.
News about a Wacky Races reboot surfaced in October last year and the new show is part of Cartoon Network’s 450 half-hour animation deal with Warner Bros. Animation. Dorothy Princess of Oz is certainly more than likely to be based on the all-time classic movie – The Wizard of Oz. No formal announcement from Warner Bros. Animation or Cartoon Network have been made regarding both shows.
